!
sir,
With reference to your despatch No.261 of the 25th August, 1924, on the subject of the Hongkong Widows and Orphans' Pension Scheme, I have the honour to inform you that I do not desire that an actuarial investigation be made and agree to accept the tables
-
prepared on the 8% basis a copy of which has been supplied by the Government of the Federated Maley States - aubject to an opening being left to pay pensions not less than 25% above these calculated under the existing 6%
Such cases would however be very rare,
tables.
2*
I presume that the new 87% basis of calculation will apply equally to contributions made to the original Widows and Orphans' Pension Fund before ita absorption in the present Government Scheme and that the Apportionment of the Surplus resulting from the valuation of that fund on 31st December, 1908 made by Mr. T. E. Young will not be affected. I would refer you to Mr. Harcourt's
1911, despatch No.106 of 13th April,
3.
I should be glad if the actuaries could
undertake to calculate pensions and prospective pensions
up to the end of the year 1924.
